Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel 2nd Progress Update - 30th April 2015

Things have been going pretty good. I've done up until the part where you take a picture of Asuka, Rei, Kaworu and also the character routes before it, too. Also, if you didn't notice, I also uploaded two videos of gameplay not long ago so check those out if you're interested. I'll drop links at the bottom of this post.

Anyway, what is interesting is that your route choices have a small after effect later in the game, giving you some variation other than the direct route scenes and such if you replay the game. However, I guess that is kinda granted for a game like this but it's still nice to see. Also, I'll give you an example. After you arrive at AEL, change into your plug suit and meet the other characters like Asuka and Kaworu, who you meet and what is said changes depending on whom you chose to go with. Asuka complains you made her go alone, Kaworu acts gay, and Rei annoys Asuka.
Now, onto the meat. The God of the New World, our lord and savior Toku-san. Jokes aside. This guy is kinda creepy. At first, he appears to Shinji on his way to school, and when you cross over to the convenience store, he follows you. Then, when you cross back over the pedestrian bridge, he follows you again and asks, "do you like animals?". Creepy. What's next, "have you ever seen a grown man naked?". Furthermore, he appears again during break/lunch time at school (and later in the game as well) and comments on the many "beautiful, young ladies". Did I mention he's old? Like oji-san old. Also, for those who don't know who this beast is, he's the owner of the Big Apple Diner (which appears in GOS2, too) from GOS1.
That said, I'd just like to comment on the quality of the voice acting. It is overall a good effort, but it does get a little stale at times with their voices sounding very tiresome. Mainly the main cast, though. The side characters and such like Toku-san are always enjoyable to hear. Also, get a load of Misato at 1:29 in the second video. That got a chuckle out of me. Furthermore, the graphics in the game are seriously lacking and downright terrible at times. I expected better. Not Ryukishi 07 photoshop filtered backgrounds half the time. Anyway, I just wanted to mention those few things, but if you've got any questions, then fire away. Otherwise, until next time.

If anyone wants me to mention or talk about anything specific next time or anytime for that matter, then just ask.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel 2nd Progress Update - 20th April 2015

It hasn't been that long since I started this translation, but i just wanted to do a little progress update for those who are interested. That said, things have been going pretty good, and I've done up until the part you choose who to go with to the Artificial Evolution Laboratory, and the free roam section for the Kaworu choice, and all of his free roam in the Artificial Evolution Laboratory, too, and I've just started on Rei’s. Granted though, that not all the dialogue in this game is voiced, or at least for the non-event scenes for Shinji, like the free roam look, talk and such text, and there is quite a bit of that since there are many locations and places to visit, and they all have their own look and talk text, with more of it when you revisit later after story scenes. I like that, since it becomes rewarding to be thorough in the free roam sections of the game. However, all characters except Shinji during those type of events and such are voiced, so that's good. Also, it is annoying that I have to manually line break (so this doesn't happen) every line of text for this game since it doesn't do it on its own, because Japanese doesn't need too. So, I have to count the number of letters and line break when necessary for every line of text, which does become time consuming in its own right.
Anyhow, the game so far has been entertaining, which is a good thing. Originally, I thought it would be bad, but that was just me being negative about everything as usual. But there is a lot of roaming about (which gets annoying) in this game, so its not that straight forward unless you know what you're doing or have a walkthrough handy. That said, I expect what it has to offer to be suffice. Also, Ritsuko is being quite a pedo in this one. That 'physical checkup' she gives you is kinda odd, seeing her various questions, her face and the fact that Shinji has his shirt off the entire time. Lewd. I just hope this doesn't give people more doujinshi ideas, or do I? Furthermore, notice the Prince of Tennis reference. Nice, Gainax. That got a chuckle out of me. Anyhow, this was just a little update so I'll end things here, but I will be recording some videos sooner or later, so stay tuned for those and keep a lookout on my Youtube channel for when I do. See ya!

Terra Formars Manga Chapter 121 English Translation

Eva to Isabella to Kasei Gokiburi Kindan no Jouji... now I know why they call them cockroaches. Anyway, now that I got that out of my system, and not that anyone of you care or are interested, but the Spanish group who I receive clean images for the chapters off of have split. However, it's essentially the same people as before working under a new name continuing their translation, but they are still sending me the clean images so all's good there. Anyway, I just wanted to mention the group change, since they'll be the ones credited on the credits page from now on. Unless you want me to talk about the new raw where Bao goes all Meet Dave on us. Didn't think so. Anyhow, here's the next chapter. Enjoy!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Ayanami Raising Project - Comparison of Platform Versions

Hmm, my bad for not doing this when I should have. That said, here's a little version comparison of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Ayanami Raising Project. Now, where should I start. I'll begin with gameplay to build up some text before I post pics. Also, take note when I use ARP (Ayanami Raising Project - PC & Dreamcast) and ASP (Asuka supplement Project - PS2 & NDS), otherwise you might get confused.

For the most part, gameplay remains the same, but there are some differences. The gameplay in the original PC release was broken, buggy and very unbalanced (especially Rei's love meter) for the most part, so much that Rei sees Shinji when she dies (I've mentioned this before if anyone remembers) even though you as 2nd Lieutenant has a higher love meter (or whatever the fuck you want to call it) than him. I mean, if something like that which is a crucial part in the game is broken, then get out. Leave. And come back when you fucking fix things. No, let me say this, they couldn't be that dumb, that was probably intentional knowing how Anno loves to torture Reifags and see them suffer. 3.33 anyone? Yeah, that's what's really going on here. I knew it all fucking along. Anyhow, they did put out a patch, which didn't really fix anything because I still got that same fucking bug. I take it back, they are that dumb.
Two baby faced motherfuckers
Also, while I'm on gameplay. It was greatly fixed and actually balanced with the Asuka Supplement Project ports. In the original, it was too easy to build stats. You were given too big a stat boost with the training options. You could send Rei to NERV any or every day of the week if you wanted to, sky rocking her respective stats into cloud 9, winning Angel encounters within a few attacks. No joke, that's how unbalanced it is. But in ASP, they refined it and made gameplay very balanced. And there, NERV is only available on weekends as opposed to the entire week which makes things that much better. So, you can't spam NERV training or ridiculously boost stats, either. Also, I would like to mention that all the Eva pilots have different stats (health, attack, defence) in the Angel battles in the original PC release, but in ASP they all have the same, and the respective stats are only used for dodging and accuracy if my memory serves me correctly. Anyhow, I didn't like that, it was an unnecessary edit. But they probably did so in an attempt to make the fights longer, I guess. Anyway, the teaching Rei words training option works differently in ARP than it does in ASP. In the former, you have to enter in the words (lewd ones) you want to teach her using your keyboard yourself, while in the latter, it simplifies things by removing that pesky chore and rather auto chooses the words from a very long list instead, which was a drag to translate by the way.
Now, lastly for gameplay. The Angel missions in the original PC version and the respective missions dialogue was very rushed. They didn't speak all the dialogue from the show during the moments, and it went over very quickly. However, this was all fixed in ASP, where the dialogue was greatly corrected and the missions were extended to be that much longer. Also, they added more training options and stats in ASP, which were essentially the ARP ones split into two for the most part. There's no point in listing them all, so here's an example or two:
  • Physical Strength
    • Strength
    • Fitness
Furthermore, most stats have a respective training to go with it in both ARP & ASP. For example, Strength and Fitness have Strength training and Fitness training, although some aren't as obviously named as those two.

Now, onto graphics. You know, there was actually a little censoring with the ports. Not much, but they added some glare and such to cover up GNR's nipples, and more of it when Rei's bikini falls off after she is hit by a wave at the beach, with it also being redrawn and with less censoring (they moved her hands to cover up her nipples instead of glare) may I add.
Now, other than censoring, all the new CG's for the new events (some existing one's redrawn, too), more/changed character textbox portraits and endings that they added had a different artist than the original PC release, which sometimes clashes with the original PC art as only some of it was redrawn. Also, they redrew Rei's stances to boot, too. And well, they do look better, but I still kinda like the PC one's. They have some charm to them.
Lastly, the menu in-which you choose where to go in Tokyo 3 and the menu's and such are different in every version. I kinda liked that but the 3D ones do look kinda goofy, but how can you resist the Dreamcast version when it has a cute looking... nude Rei floating about the screen? Umm, was that part of Anno's master plan as well? Nah, just kidding.
Top left = PC - Top Right = Dreamcast
Bottom left = PS2 - Bottom Right = NDS
Well, there's not much to say about features. The only differences I can say is that Asuka was added as well as a bunch of new events and endings for Rei in ASP. A quiz mode in the NDS version, which is the only one to have it. You can view both event and ending CG's in the ports as you could only view endings in the original PC release. A new Dejiko (Nyo) shop and new items/clothing to buy in ASP, which presumably has something to do with unlocking the NDS exclusive Dejiko ending for both Rei and Asuka. A Gurren Lagann costume for both Asuka (Yuko) and Rei (Nia) solely in the NDS version. And lastly, 2nd Lieutenants voice was removed in ASP, but was kept in the Dreamcast version since that's more or less a direct port of the PC version.
I haven't touched the NDS version in a while, so I just screencapped this pic off the games official site since these costumes cost quite a bit, and since you need to get them to accept wearing it, also.
Also, you may also note that the shops in this game like Animate and the like are real life stores in Japan. A nice little features if you ask me. Anyway, that's really it for my comparison. I hope/think I covered all the differences or at least most of them, and I hope you enjoyed it, too. So, unless you've got any questions or want to leave a comment. Until next time! See ya!

Did anyone notice my Zelda reference in the NDS translation? I thought someone would have mentioned it by now. For those who are curious, it is at the point where you have to choose which entry plug Rei is in, in the lake and if you choose the one Asuka is in, she shouts at you since she's naked.

Terra Formars Manga Chapter 120 English Translation

Well, she finally makes her appearance after that horrific event. However, it is puzzling to see this happen since I was under the assumption she was kidnapped by the Jojh like in that doujinshi where they...  ahem. Nevermind. Although that could be the reason why she has no clothes on. Just kidding, may the Jojh be with you. Enjoy!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel 2nd English Translation Announcement

Well, there you have it, Girlfriend of Steel 2 (or the Iron Maiden 2nd) is my next translation. Although I'm guessing you already knew that judging from my interests and such. However, it was either this or Ayanami Raising Project on the PC, which I do plan to translate eventually just so you know and I've actually already started on it, kinda. That said, I didn't expect Asuka's ass in my face (it totally jumped out of the screen) the moment I started the darn game, and I already knew there was fanservice in it but I never expected this. I mean, has Gainax really gone that low? Stupid question, I know. Enter Mari "the semen demon" joke here. Anyhow, her butt hits the screen right after it says "Gainax Presents", as if "Gainax presents Asuka's butt". That's probably the title of a doujinshi knowing Evangelion fans. Jab jab jab.
I can see the 4chan topic's right now.
"I want to sniff Asuka's butt"
"I want Asuka to sit on my face"
Anyway, sadly this Eva game isn't on the serious side, but more of a slapstick comedy, for some reason. However, hopefully it's funny and not stilted as I really wouldn't want to translate something that irritates me. That said, it's based in the alternate world seen in the final episode of the show, and is a dating sim/visual novel style game with only two endings, although there are a few silly game over ones like Robocop Shinji. That said, the two main endings are one Rei and the other Asuka, with no variation may I add. Anyhow, that's all I've got to say so I'll just end things here. And I hope people are interested in a translation of this game. I mean, who wouldn't? It's Evangelion, after all. Also, I recorded a video for some testing purposes and so you guys can see something ingame. Enjoy!

Dead of the Brain English Translation Interest

Well, as you can tell from the title, this is a game that I am interested in translating in the future. That said, let me give you some info on it. Its a retro 90's Japanese adventure game that has zombies in it. What's not to like? Did I mention its short? Another bonus. Anyhow, if I ever do get around to translating it, I would do the PC-98 version of the game and not the FM Towns one with better sound quality which I had originally planned. That's due to a problem where the game crashes when you change any of the text, for some reason. I just wanted to test and see if text can be changed in both, and it does for the PC-98 version so I know it can be done if I ever get around to it. Also, before any work can be done, I would have to build a table for the game and correctly recognize the kanji since it is sorta bitty, which would take some time. Remember, the entire library of characters could be (or should I say is) in a retro tile based PC game so that's another problem. All said and done, I would like this to be one of my projects in the future. Anyhow, I'll also be announcing my main translation soon, but you can probably guess what it's gonna be. Here's a hint, something to do with being cruel to someone's thesis on angels.

Thank the good chaps on 4chan in the retro JP video games thread for letting me know about this gem. It looks really fun and so does its sequel and Marine Philt, another game made by the same game company except it has an Alien like enemy instead of zombies. I hope to bring this game and its related games to light someday in the future, hopefully.

Terra Formars Manga Chapter 119 English Translation

Yes! The Spanish have started back up Terra Formars and I am very glad! And I'm guessing you are, too. Hee-hee. Now, it didn't take me long to do this chapter so I without further stalling, you can find the download link below. Enjoy!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel 2nd Graphics Rip (PC)

Well, even though there is already a graphics rip for GOS2 (or the Iron Maiden 2nd), I decided to make a rip myself. However, this is a raw rip so some (or a lot) of the event pics are separated apart since they are not a single file. Now, when I did so, I also noticed that this Evangelion game "borrows" some assets from Ayanami Raising Project (unsure if they're in GOS1, never played it) in the form of character portraits and some backgrounds. Also, the art is kinda rough, isn't it? I mean, it's not very good and the lines are all edgy. Ayanami Raising Project has better (kinda), and that was years before this. Anyway, enough about that. You can find the download link below, and all the files are in their original format. Enjoy!

If you just want to see the event pics fully and such (since some are split in the game), you might just want to check out Reichu's rip, instead.

Update - 28th October 2016
Link has been fixed. Enjoy. Thanks for spotting the dead link.

Gundam Seed Homeworld 2 Mod English Translation 1.0

This was just a thing I had on the side over the past few weeks. It's a mod made by the Chinese modder group 9ccn and they have actually been developing this over the years since 2006. That said, since they are chinese, naturally the mod was, too. However, that's where I came in. I gathered the tools and worked my magic and bamn it was translated. Anyhow, if you're wondering about features, this mod has plenty. There are three complete factions to play from and they are ORB, ZAFT and the Earth Alliance. There are mecha, Gundams, mobile suits, mobile armor, warships and nearly everything you could want. Plus, it's actually balanced unlike the Universal Century mod, although just to an extent. Now, this mod is not yet finished, so everything isn't quite done yet. But! The Chinese group should have a new version out sometime this year, and hopefully things should be much better then. Anyhow, if you're interested in playing, you can find a download for both the mod and my English patch below. I hope you enjoy it, and let me know what you think if you could.

There seems to be lag in this mod, and that’s mostly due to the animations that play for the mechas and such. Sucks, I know. Also, there's a topic for this mod on the backwater that is Relic Forums. Just FYI.
