This is that special which was in a Champion Red magazine sometime in 2003 IIRC after Emulators came out. It's based years later when Yuri is 18, and interesting enough, things from this do play into Next such as their Alien Countermeasures Van and the like. Guess Tomizawa was planning to do something more all this time, but probably either didn't have time or was too busy working on other things.
This hospital appears at the end, FYI.
Anyhow, I searched to the ends of the internet (literally) for this both in English and Japanese, and the only source I found (or pictures at all) was a Portuguese scanlation site which actually did it many years ago, and much to my bliss, they still had the raws. A little busy bee about it I was because this is rather obscure and I was annoyed about not finding it. At any rate, if you haven't noticed, I'm a big faggot for Alien 9 and Tomizawa's works, so do expect more Tomizawa in future. Enjoy the short. See ya!
Okay, there's been some fixes here and there so that things will make a little more sense and to fix a few mistakes I made and a font change for Kasumi's borg in chapter 2 since I changed it in chapter 3 because its dialogue box is different which is something I should have did since the beginning, but it's something simple to fix. Anyhow, if you're wondering what this is about, Kumi goes into space to find answers as to why her body doesn't mature and lands on the Borg's original homeworld. That's it in short, but there's plenty more things that go on in it. A shame that more was never made because I'd like to see what happens next. At any rate, I've updated all the chapters as well, so do enjoy. Bai bai!
Confused yet? Well, you're not the only one. In any case, it says "to be continued" at the end, but no more was ever made unfortunately. I'm thinking it's possible that more could be made with those new kids at the end and then tie in Next with it, but that's probably unlikely. Also, I say unfortunately because it was actually kinda interesting and I'm sure thing would have been better fleshed out if it was like an entire volume or so. I mean, there's a ton of unanswered questions and I for one would like to find out what exactly is going on.
2001 A Yuri Odyssey
Anyway, although this was a 3D manga, the art was actually pretty decent all things considered. Of course it did look a bit uncanny valley at times, but some pages looked pretty well-done, and having this entire thing in full-color did help, too. Also, just to let you know, I actually had to buy this because while there was little to no information about it, there as just as little pictures and no raws.
Top ten anime battles
However, Japanese people should buy this and not share raws in order to support the author since this was self-published without the backing of a publisher, I'll add. And that worries me. At any rate, I don't know if I'd like to call this "canon", but I did enjoy this little adventure and it's also made by the author, so I guess it is. Anyway, enjoy the final chapter of Alien 9 Next! Bai Bai!
Yeah, I don't think I wanna go to that planet anytime soon. Anyway, next chapter goes all "what the fuck is going on", so if you're confused, then prepare to be even more confused next chapter. In any case, it seems that Kumi has named all the Borgs after herself and the others, but I do wonder if the Borg pooping out the younger Yuri has something to do with them being able to store their memories like they mentioned before in the original manga, or we're just supposed to assume that hypothetical space magic particles caused this, or that the shock Yuri got in chapter 1 had something to do with it. Honestly, no clue. I mean, is it a clone of Yuri or is it just the borg with her appearance? I think the latter.
We all know where that's going
Also, it seems that the ship launcher in the first chapter is a Starseed launcher of sorts, and you're also probably lost on the whole tachyon particle thing, but just read up about tachyons and you'll understand. Anyway, it seems that Megumi is up to no good as usual. Probably thinking of a way to use that kid (who appeared in the background in chapter 1) for Borg stuff like what she did in the original when she told the borg to force a merge with Yuri and getting those boys to triple tag-team and attack her to force her to get used to it.
Now how did THAT get there?
That's also my twitter avatar. Lol. In any case, I'll be working on the next and final chapter of this next and then I'll fix whatever needs fixed up on Saga #3 and compile the volume next... Next next next next next. Enjoy the chapter. バイバイ!
Yeah, you're reading that right. The madman actually made more Alien 9. Sound awesome, right? Well, not so much. Because it's fucking 3d models & CGI! Ahem. Well, that aside and it looking really fucking weird, the first chapter of this was alright, I guess. Nothing too amazing, but it does give us a few things to go on.
For one, it seems that those with a symbiote don't age for some reason, and that Yuri is the only one who has aged and filled out (which Tomizawa really wanted us to see with her now large chest and phat ass). She's now 23 years old while everyone else looks the same as they did before. And it also seems that the Yellow Knifes are all over apartment blocks. Anyway, you're probably wondering what this is about. Well, Kumi blasts off in a seed ship to find an answer to... something, and she lands on some really bizarre fucked up planet and shit goes down. This started in December in 2015 and ended in August 2016 with only 3 chapters. At any rate, I'll be quiet for now. Check it out for yourself. Bai bai!
