Kyochuu Rettou (The Island of Giant Insects) Chapter 21 Part 1 v2 [English] [Manga]

I'm not too fond of this new art. It lacks the detail, depth and expressions which RED ICE had, but even though it does look fairly similar in a way, it is a big step down. I mean, just compare a few pages and you'll see what I mean. Heck, I might as well do that for you. Also, everyone is shouting way less and have more passive faces even though the situation is rather dire. Oribe doesn't have those crazy eyes and comes off as less bossy, and there was also a few dialogue changes for some reason.

Anyhow, as you may have heard, this is indeed getting an anime. Or rather, an OVA. However, I do welcome it as I thought they never would adapt it. Though, I hope they don't change too much given the content of the manga since it would be a shame if they mess it up or have all the bugs bad Berserk-tier CGI. At any rate, the author included a page at the beginning to give us some info on the big delays and as one would have assumed, it was health related. The artist in particular which is the reason why the artist has now changed. If you're wondering who he is, it's this guy, Hirose Shuu. All said and done, I'm glad it's back, but while it is strange to redraw two chapters, it does make sense given that it's also the beginning of volume 06. Man, that was nasty. We all knew it was going to happen, but it's still pretty fucking disgusting. However, let's hope bugs don't evolve and start eating people like this or Blue Gender any time soon. The latter which I watched recently, and it was pretty good. Would recommend, but don't go in expecting Starship Troopers. If you do that, you'll only set yourself up for disappointment. Anyway, I'm really wondering how thing will go next chapter. Will Mutsumi and the other two be stranded on the island while everyone else tries to get away and horribly dies by the subspinipes? The next chapter can't come out soon enough. Yeah, we all know what's going to happen next. Her stomach's gonna explode and bugs are gonna fly all over the place. Can't wait until the next chapter. It's gonna be great, me thinks. Also, yeah, it did take 5 months for another chapter of this to come out. There wasn't a peep from the author anything IIRC, but either they just wanted volume 5 to come out, get sales and then continue a bit after, or something happened behind the scenes involving either the author or the artist or some shit.

Oh, shit. Somebody's gonna die next chapter. I mean, centipedes? They're creepy as fuck and carnivorous to top it off. And we only got to see its legs here so it does make me wonder how big the fucker actually is. Probably to the top of the tree line, I guess. Gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it.

They released this chapter quicker than I thought they would, but it does seem things are finally picking up. I really wonder what's gonna happen next. Will they go all Jurassic Park 2 with this, or will they do a King Kong style expedition to the island from the boat? Or, will they escape or will they see the boat in the distant and then a big bug gobbles it all up? Hmm. Well, I'll have to wait and see about that, but I've very excited as to what will happen from this point on.

In any case, next thing I need to work on is the next Getter Robo chapter and that is the one where the bad guy with the big tits and ass appears, so do look forward to that.
