Terra Formars Manga Scanlation Update - 12th March 2015

Okay, I've got some bad news and I've got some good news. I'll start off with the bad. It seems the Spanish are waiting until display; none put out their volume release of Terra Formars before continuing the chapters, and said its because they want to translate the few extra pages that comes with it. That said, I'm guessing that'll be many weeks, a months time or maybe even longer from now. I know that sucks, but there's nothing I can do about it. Unless, I continue the chapters myself, which would involve painfully typing up the kanji and airbrushing. Or, if I manage to get myself a redrawer to do the latter for me, I could just gather the kanji, typeset and translate, which would help speed things up, so this is a potential option. Also, I would say I could contact the Chinese group which the Spanish used as a base for their scanlation, as they airbrushed/redrew that instead of the magazine scans, but Chinese groups are not known for their generosity, so they would probably decline or not respond at all. But, couldn’t hurt to try. I’ll try and find some form of contact in the meantime.

Anyway, now the good news. I will also be translating that special released back last September. I've already typed up all the Spanish text, so all that's left to do is translate, airbrush and typeset. And that’s really everything I wanted to say. Funny enough, the Spanish and Brazilians were a little puzzled by my previous post (if anyone actually read it). They thought I was being serious, while in reality, I was just having a little bit of fun. I explained that to them and they then understood, even got a chuckle from the Spanish. So, I'm not angry at all and I don't hold any grudges, either. Well, now that I've got that out of the way, here's the next chapter of Terra Formars. Enjoy!

Terra Formars Manga Chapter 117 English Translation

I originally planned to have this done for last Sunday, but I ran into a few problems. The main one being the Spanish group whom I get the clean images from deleted the files... which means, I had to painfully airbrush this chapter. Ugh, I hate airbrushing. Its a real pain. Anyway, what takes the piss is that I asked them the day they finished 117, but their leader told me to wait a while so I did, and when I asked again a few days later, they had already deleted the files. Yeah, I got fucked there. And man was I pissed. Granted though I didn't take it out on him, but rather "kindly" asked for them to make sure it doesn't happen again. Which it better fucking not. To make matters worse, I'm not the only one who receives the images from them. A Brazilian scanlation team also does, who oddly enough receives them from me forwarding the files (including my PSD's, seriously, can't the Spanish share theirs instead) to them, making me some form of fucking middleman. I mean, what? Why the fuck do I have to do that? Do the Spanish just see it as a bother, so they delegated it onto me? Not that I really mind though, I'm still getting what I want, and the Brazilians are friendly enough.

That said, I also had to look up Bible quotes. So, since the Spanish had done this chapter, I asked them what Deuteronomy it was for the few that didn't state. Guess what, they didn't know. Wait, what!? How the fuck don't they, they translated the darn thing. My guess is they translated from the JP text (which is a really bad idea seeing how the JP bible is a translation from presumably the English version, and translating that would give you a translation of a translation, leaving up with an incorrect mess) instead of looking up it in their own language, which is what I did. Now, I know it may not be the same as what is said in the JP version, but it's more or less, seeing how they're the same quotes. Anyhow, that's all I really wanted to say, so you'll find links below. Terra Formars Manga Chapter 115 English Translation

I planned to have this finished yesterday but typesetting was taking longer than I thought, so I decided to finish it today. Anyhow, its here now, and I should have another two chapters finished by the end of the week. Also, Akari kinda goes full Shinji in this chapter, I half expected "I feel the pain, but the tears won't come" or "Don't say goodbye on a mission, its so sad". Terra Formars Manga Chapter 114 English Translation

It seems some people on batoto are getting pissed at me for "hijacking" the release of Terra Formars. That said, there is no such thing as scanlator "dibs" on any series whatsoever. Its very egotistical to think so and is a practice that needs to die. Anyone should be able to freely pick up anything because no scanlator group owns any series, the creator does. So its not some dude on the internet, and its certainly not me.

Heck, translation wise, mine and display: none;'s will probably end up very differently. For one, I tend to translate literally while they on the other hand don't, rewriting dialogues into "what cha" and "you guys". I don't intend to judge, but I never liked that about their translation. It always felt inaccurate and made me feel very skeptical about its accuracy. That said, maybe some people prefer it that way, and maybe some people don't. I for one don't, but if you do, then go ahead and wait for their release. I'm not forcing anyone to read mine, and I'm not "hijacking" anything. So go ahead and choose your preference. However, many people probably don't even care about any of this, and only want to read more of a series that they are interested in. I believe that's the majority, but because of this, some people think I am stealing their thunder by releasing it earlier than theirs, because nobody will notice or read theirs once released. If you think that, you have a very large, over bloated ego and presumably only care about the attention in which you receive. I for one on the other hand don't care about any of that, as I too only wish to read more of a series in which I enjoy. So I'm not doing this for any sort of attention, or anything of the like. I just hope that people understand that.

Now that I've got that out of the way, here's the next chapter of Terra Formars. I hope you enjoy it. Things from now on should be that much easier, as I won't have to painfully airbrush away anything thanks to the Spanish supplying me with clean images. Neon Genesis Evangelion Video Game Translation Suggestions

Erm, I posted this on Evageeks but it seems not much people will post. Anyhow, I'll just drop it here for the time being. I'll be finishing up my current translation project in about a month, so I might stray back into Evangelion territory. That said, I just want to gather some information/thoughts on which Eva game people would prefer a translation for. I wouldn't mention console games just yet as they usually require custom written programs to translate, and 99% of people I've contacted have ignored my messages... so, yeah. Anyhow, I've got a few in mind.

1. Girlfriend of Steel 2 (Looks funny, could be worth a good laugh)
2. Shinji Ikari Raising Project (Very unsure, ugly art)
3. Ayanami Raising Project? (PC)

I know, a short list, but you might be wondering why I put Ayanami Raising Project on there. For one, my translation of the NDS version was very lousy, but I have improved greatly since then so I have been wondering about doing the PC version for a refined experience (with honorifics) of its original release. Two, there are a few things different between both versions, a few side events are missing since they were added in its ports and the fact that the PC version has a few exclusive endings. If you're familiar with ARP, you're probably aware of the ganguro and dominatrix endings that are exclusive to the PC and presumably the Dreamcast version as well, which were removed in the later PS2 and NDS ports. I'm very interested in what they detail, and they are also a few other exclusive endings (horseback riding for one) and even some with different artwork. Thirdly, not all the dialogue (less of it, especially in Angel encounter missions) in the game is the same and neither are the training options, as the original release was somewhat lacking in the much needed depth that the ports added. Heck, the Russians even made a mod for the game so there's also the possibility of translating that, too. That said, I know translating the same game twice may not be a good idea but I think it would be worth it. Anyhow, just gives your thoughts or suggestions on which game you'd prefer to have a translation for. I'm thinking GOS2, what about everyone else?
