Treasure Hunter Jubei - Chapter 27 [English] [Manga]

And that was the end of Jubei. Well, it was a good manga overall, but it severely lacks any sort of word-building, recurring characters, character development and the like. Of course, it's just an action/comedy manga, so all that stuff isn't really necessary, but something of the sort could have benefitted the manga. Anyhow, I did like the first two volumes more, but the 3rd was still good. And it was nice to see where Tomizawa started before going on to Alien 9 like 5 years later especially given how different the two works are.

Lastly, the TL by CPM (which I had to fix a good bit to make it more accurate to the source) was serviceable, but if you've been reading my posts, you'd see that they made certain inappropriate TL choices. On that, they even messed up the Crimson Shield's nickname by calling it the "immortal shield" even though what that part is trying to get across is that Jubei is now immortal and will live forever, so "shield of immortality" or "shield of perpetual youth" (both of which are the accurate translation) makes more sense in that regard. Anyway, I complain a lot, so let's end that here. Thank those of you who actually read this because I do know that there are a few. I hope you enjoyed it. As for other Tomizawa works, well, I do plan on doing Enchant Land sooner or later, but first, I've got to make a start on Armitage The Third volume #2 and Getter Edge volume #3. Oh, and more Gekiman. Bai bai!

I really don't understand why CPM do this. I mean, when Jubei hilariously sells Carpet's, umm... carpet, they erased the tip pointing towards the merchant and had Jubei speak instead of him. Like, for what purpose? Anyhow, yes, it seems that I have been complaining a lot about the TL by them, but it's also good that I'm looking at the Japanese script and make it more accurate to it. Snorts. There was some lines that they drastically changed again, but this time, it really made me cringe for how far they stray from the original lines. An example is when Jubei asks Spider (who CPM have as Spyder probably because they thought it sounded cooler) to hurry up, he says "Spyder! I appreciate your generous offer for assistance. Although, I am humbled, time is short... so please tell me where my toad mouth is!" while what he actually says is "If you know toad mouth's whereabouts, then hurry up and tell me! Information merchant spider!". And to be honest, I would be here all day if I listed them all. Anyhow, something better happen soon because this is the last volume. Enjoy the chapter. See ya!

Treasure Hunter Jubei - Chapter 19 [English] [Manga]

Man, there was a good bit of stuff that I had to correct this chapter. I mean, I get it when it still holds the original meaning, but then there's lines that just change what it's saying entirely. For example, after Jubei gets his license stolen, the old guy says "This time's auction is a special auction for the sake of renewing one's merchant license", but in the CPM version, he says "So you'd be advised to hurry, sir.". I mean, that's just wrong because that line implies that merchants have to regularly prove their worth by constantly bringing back valuable items to sell which helps build the world and stuff. There's also that Kido Kuratchazu (no idea) part they omitted and had it just as "security police" IIRC. However, that's understandable because even I don't know what they mean by that. They also said just "SP" with no given meaning, but it's obviously Security Police, so I added a little * to let readers know.

However, Kido Kuratchazu is their title so it does hold meaning.  Also, this license stuff reminds me of HxH. When is Jubei going to appear in HxH as a commeranee hunter or something? I need that reference. Anyhow, they had Afro's name as "Afra" for some reason even though it literally says afro. Get it? Because he has an Afro? At any rate, there is a few other things, but there's no need to list them all. Enjoy the chapter, and I'll see you next time. See ya!

Treasure Hunter Jubei - Chapter 18 [English] [Manga]

Yup, it's time for more Jubei. And if you're wondering what this volume is about, Jubei returns to the merchant city of the world to auction off an item only to face off against an old adversary. Simple as that, but it looks good. I think. Well, the ending's a bummer, but you'll see eventually. Also, the CPM TL was downright absurd at times with entire lines re-written and translated wrong. An example would be where they had Dejima as being "an island that controls the world's economy" when what it actually said was that it "controlled the world behind the scenes". Both of which are two different things entirely. There was also "very seldom do we seen an s-class item" and Grill calling Jubei a fool at the very end when he said "it's over".

And when Jubei makes his entrance, a man says "Have you heard of his latest adventures?" even though he says "Then, he's selling today's other item?" I mean, that's just embarrassing and it reminded me of that awful DBZ manga TL where Yamcha randomly asks about the Dragon Ball radar or something. Just no. Anyway, my complaints aside, there is a bunch other things I could complain about like various minor things here and there I had to change, but I would go on forever. Last thing, there was a few cameos like Sailor Moon and the Pringles logo among other things this chapter... for some reason. Enjoy the chapter. See ya!

Treasure Hunter Jubei - Chapter 17 [English] [Manga]

These action shots are always really good

That was pretty good. Jubei is too cool. Anyhow, I've yet to buy the third volume, but this will give me some time to let Jubei sink in, and to work on other things such as Yumihari, Armitage The Third, and Getter Darkness. Also, I'll be helping out wakabayashy with a thing or two seeing how he has paid somebody for an English TL of Devilman's Gekiman. Six volumes of it in fact. 

NYAAAAAA!!!

At any rate, I want to finish off the current Yumihari volume and make a start on Armitage before that. However, I'll be compiling Jubei #2 later on tomorrow as it's kinda late now. And it's kinda sad they never made an anime of this or something. Sigh. Same goes for all the other Tomizawa works.
