Okazaki Yuu's Cutie Honey [English] [Manga]

Here's all the chapters of Okazaki Yuu's Cutie Honey. Please don't assume I'm the one who did this as I only did chapter 5 myself and helped with scans and cleaning for a few others. The rest was done by a group of people on Tumblr so the credit goes to them. That said, I'm just combining all the chapters into a single release to centralise things. However, this comes from The Another which is a book of Yuu's Honey and Ishikawa's Honey, so I'll probably do the latter myself sooner or later considering it's only half a volume. The other people on tumblr who were working on this a good while ago fell apart, but there was only one chapter left to do so I thought that I might as well do it. Cutie Honey '90/Gekidou Densetsu (Ironcat Comic Issues)

Encase you didn't realise or know, Jammin (same guy who's scanning Saga for me) scanned and uploaded the late 90’s issues of Cutie Honey 90 (otherwise known as Cutie Honey 90’s Gekidou Densetsu among other things) that were brought over by an apparently shoddy American company. And well, you can see the quality of it for yourself. However, it’ll at least fill in a that blank for the series, so do get reading if you like Cutie Honey. Haven’t read it myself, so I can’t comment if this is good or not. But I do like those covers. Hubba hubba. Anyway, this post is more like a FYI. Do enjoy. Bye!

Spotted this on /m/ which then lead me to the Nagai torrent on nyaa that had it. Anyhow, it's an Encyclopedia of Cutie Honey and it was released in 1999. It has some art, info and all that jazz so check it out if you're interested. Uploaded it to mega and exhentai to get it out to more people. Enjoy.

Okay, this is 99% of Nagai's translated works as some are in-progress and a few I still have to download. Other than that, I can't seed the torrent of this all the time on my own so that's why I uploaded it all to MEGA and that's why I'm asking to community to keep this torrent alive and any other updated versions I put out in future. Yup, this is my next project. MORE GO NAGAI! And if you've got something to say about me dropping Terra ForMars for this, then you can shut the fuck up and get a good slap in the face. Ahem. Now, I remember people saying this was bad but it actually looks pretty good. Classy Nagai is what it is, if you're a fan of his work then should find this an enjoyable read. However, it doesn't exactly have chapters so I've decided to ahem cut my own chapters out of the entire thing. I hope you guys don't mind as I really don't want to work on the entire volume and then release it. Either way, as I progress, hopefully it should attract some more viewers than simply if I did it all in one go. Anyway, I've got nothing else to say so go ahead and get started. Until next time.

Review: Cutie Honey (Manga)

Man has it been some time since I read this and Iron Virgin Jun. I mean, I completely forgot about both after reading them over a month ago. Still, like before, late is better than never so on to the review. Now, Cutie Honey is classic Nagai as classic Nagai can get. It pulls all the jokes and is very fun and entertaining to read overall. That said, I actually really enjoyed it and didn’t have much problems with it at all, other than some of the fanservice which went a bit too far, the eyebrow raising violence, and that attempted rape scene. Well, not some of the fanservice, just mainly this one scene. Let me begin. Cutie is fleeing from the Panther Claw and has only one transformation left, so she decides to turn into a statue to fool the enemy. It works and they leave after many grizzling hours later. However, Cutie can’t leave immediately after they do, no sir ree, as she has to stay put until the coast is clear. Oh-oh, this can’t be good. Not long after the villains leave, that reporter guys old man and brother come into the park and immediately notice the nude statue. Hubba hubba. They approach it and notice how lifelike and realistic it is, and being the perverted old man and child they are and the fact that they are Japanese, they begin to touch the statue. Oh-boy, oh, boy, oh-boy! Ahem. They realise that it’s not only realistic, but that it’s also warm to the touch, and that it becomes wet after being licked. And this is where things take a turn for the worse. Okay, get this, the old man begins sucking her nipples and the kid starts to lick out her crotch…….. what!? I mean, Nagai has done weird things in the past and I totally think that this one takes the cake, but is it even legal? Just look at that! I feel that this part could have easily been omitted or changed as it’s not funny (unless you think rape jokes and groping is funny) and freaking creepy. And the joke is that she has to endure their "assault" since she can't move or make any noise. Laugh.

That aside, Cutie Honey is very funny and very entertaining to read, and actually still holds up today which is a major bonus. You will laugh hard, and be dying to read more. However, that’s not to say it’s perfect or doesn’t have any flaws. It’s sadly only two volumes long and I just know that it should have been much longer or at least 5 volumes for a story of this type. And for one thing, some of the plot threads tend to be rather generic like an enemy disguising as that reporter guy to get closer to Cutie to try and kill her, but I think that’s because like Mazinger Z and a bunch of Nagai’s other works, they are the one’s which started it all and are what following manga and anime took inspiration from. Therefore, even if they come off as so, we can still appreciate them for being the forerunner of today’s manga/anime and their standards. Now, lastly I would like to mention that there is surprisingly a tad bit of violence present in Cutie Honey. It was really puzzling because it should be more comedy focused like its anime counterpart. However, that in itself is a staple of Nagai’s work since he always does this sort of thing and because this is also not the first time I’ve encountered a work of his and brought up the same notion. Remember Guerilla High/Gakuen Taikutsu Otoko? Could have worked better as solely parody/comedy manga, but Nagai is Nagai and his insane, unique way of creating manga is one of his biggest appeals that allows him to stand apart from most other manga authors out there. All said and done, classic Nagai is classic Nagai, so if you’re avid fan of his works or a fan of manga in general, then I recommend you to check Cutie Honey out. You won’t regret it.

Mazin Go Jungle

If you're a fan of Nagai of sorts or at least browse /m/ on 4chan, then you might have noticed that a Dynamic Pro focused shop called Mazin Go Jungle has recently opened in Japan. It appears to be selling various goods like any store, but there are also some weird, funny looking Devilman glasses for sale at a staggering 24,000 yen. Sheesh. Expensive. I want one. But alas, one does not have such large coffers, nor coin to ascertain such passage to the Wano Kingdom. What a cruel world. Ahem. It's really neat looking and has a bunch of statues and posters everywhere about the place. Looks exciting, doesn't it? However, I do wonder if it'll even get any good business to stay afloat since Nagai doesn't really sell all that well these days, and the fact that it is all of old series from the 70's and the like so this does not bode well. Though the vending machine empire is present so I'm sure that'll at least bring in some dough, though not for Uncle Go. Japan sure love their vending machines, don't they? Cant live without them, no sir ree. Either or, I hope it does stay in business as more Nagai is always welcome. Anyhow, there's a thread on 4chan which has been posting pictures of the place, so check that out if you're interested.

Actually, it turns out that the shop has been there for over ten years selling a similar sort of items, but just that they rebranded it recently to Mazin Go Jungle. Thanks random Japanese dude in the 4chan thread for that info.
