Terra Formars: Mangastream and Imperial Scans

Figured one of those ad revenue redirect sites would pick up Terra Formars knowing that IS did the same probably for the same reason. Anyhow, it is odd because even I noticed (and a few on 4chan) that near enough everything with MS when compared to IS releases of Terra Formars are the same. Typesetting, scans, various names on the credits page and much much more. For one, seems like they more or less merged with Mangastream to form an even bigger group and wow oh wow just look at the many names on that credits page. Sheesh. They must really want that ad revenue.

Now, from that and from what I've gathered on the net it seems that IS didn't exactly disband, but rather just go somewhere else than the retiring due to life and such like the message on their site detailed. However, that probably just applied to the sites main lead than the whole group, but they really should have been more forward and direct as to what was happening with themselves and the series and be more open and transparent. I mean, it's just eyebrow raising. We all know it's about those Chinese raw providers in Japan who got arrested and all the backlash that been happening recently. There's no shame in acknowledging that much.

Anyway, MS picking up the series won't deter me from working on the series. In fact, due to them keeping it available only on their site (even if it is reuploaded elsewhere) works more in my favour because it won't be available to everyone else and not everyone will go to their site to read the series seeing how most people read it off the various major read online sites at their own leisure. That, and a few other reasons but there's no need to list them all. All in all, it's good to be back on the series. Can't wait to see the reaction to my next credits page. Heads will roll! Ah ha ha ha ha!!

Review: Iron Virgin Jun (Manga)

And this doesn't even happen!

Okay, next up is Iron Virgin Jun and then that’s more or less all the Nagai manga that I’ve read which I’ve reviewed, except the original Devilman and a few other things like Violence Jack since I don’t think I even need to review those. Anyhow, Iron Virgin Jun. Hmm. This is an odd one because I think that it actually had potential. Now, let’s give you a small summary of the plot. There is a rich family full of muscled women and people marry in and out for money and power. However, the daughter doesn’t exactly want an arranged marriage, and thus our story ensues into wacky adventures of her mother attempting to get her married. Simple enough. But! This is where it goes wrong because the way it is handled by Nagai was off by a long shot because if he actually stopped putting in so much goddamn weird crap, it could have been much better and actually passable. Let me explain. Okay, her mother wants her daughter to marry into companies for power and profit. Right, we got that.

Japan in a nutshell

However, right off the bat the first guy we see trying to “woo” her attempts to rape her while she’s restrained (mother doesn’t want her to escape), and this isn’t the worst to happen. Second, her Aunt or something comes back from the Amazon and mentions to her “the romance of the jungle” and we see an image of her in a jungle surrounded by animals. Yeah, way to live up beastility, Nagai. Sheesh. Hmm, though I wonder if that’s a reference to that story Nagai wrote where a woman crashes into the Amazon and gets raped by everything in sight. Worth a thought. Also, Japan’s fucking weird! Nagai, too! Ahem. Moving on. Third, when she runs away from home her mother puts out an award stating that the one who rapes her gets to marry her and enter the family. Yes, that’s right, you can get paid for rape! Where do I sign up? Ahem. All that sexuality and stupid crap aside, the jokes and comedy present in Iron Virgin Jun is actually pretty good and very well done. For one thing, Akira and Asuka from the original Devilman make an appearance and it's very funny. Amenhotep made me laugh my ass off, and just the absurd style and course of events is ridiculously hilarious if you can get past the misogyny. And, no, I am not from tumblr. All in all, Iron Virgin Jun is an odd piece of work in that it had potential like many of Nagai’s works, but falls short due to its various mishaps and plot elements and scenes which hold it back. I’d say check it out, but don’t blame me if you don’t like it or if it doesn’t leave an impression. See ya!

Review: Cutie Honey (Manga)

Man has it been some time since I read this and Iron Virgin Jun. I mean, I completely forgot about both after reading them over a month ago. Still, like before, late is better than never so on to the review. Now, Cutie Honey is classic Nagai as classic Nagai can get. It pulls all the jokes and is very fun and entertaining to read overall. That said, I actually really enjoyed it and didn’t have much problems with it at all, other than some of the fanservice which went a bit too far, the eyebrow raising violence, and that attempted rape scene. Well, not some of the fanservice, just mainly this one scene. Let me begin. Cutie is fleeing from the Panther Claw and has only one transformation left, so she decides to turn into a statue to fool the enemy. It works and they leave after many grizzling hours later. However, Cutie can’t leave immediately after they do, no sir ree, as she has to stay put until the coast is clear. Oh-oh, this can’t be good. Not long after the villains leave, that reporter guys old man and brother come into the park and immediately notice the nude statue. Hubba hubba. They approach it and notice how lifelike and realistic it is, and being the perverted old man and child they are and the fact that they are Japanese, they begin to touch the statue. Oh-boy, oh, boy, oh-boy! Ahem. They realise that it’s not only realistic, but that it’s also warm to the touch, and that it becomes wet after being licked. And this is where things take a turn for the worse. Okay, get this, the old man begins sucking her nipples and the kid starts to lick out her crotch…….. what!? I mean, Nagai has done weird things in the past and I totally think that this one takes the cake, but is it even legal? Just look at that! I feel that this part could have easily been omitted or changed as it’s not funny (unless you think rape jokes and groping is funny) and freaking creepy. And the joke is that she has to endure their "assault" since she can't move or make any noise. Laugh.

That aside, Cutie Honey is very funny and very entertaining to read, and actually still holds up today which is a major bonus. You will laugh hard, and be dying to read more. However, that’s not to say it’s perfect or doesn’t have any flaws. It’s sadly only two volumes long and I just know that it should have been much longer or at least 5 volumes for a story of this type. And for one thing, some of the plot threads tend to be rather generic like an enemy disguising as that reporter guy to get closer to Cutie to try and kill her, but I think that’s because like Mazinger Z and a bunch of Nagai’s other works, they are the one’s which started it all and are what following manga and anime took inspiration from. Therefore, even if they come off as so, we can still appreciate them for being the forerunner of today’s manga/anime and their standards. Now, lastly I would like to mention that there is surprisingly a tad bit of violence present in Cutie Honey. It was really puzzling because it should be more comedy focused like its anime counterpart. However, that in itself is a staple of Nagai’s work since he always does this sort of thing and because this is also not the first time I’ve encountered a work of his and brought up the same notion. Remember Guerilla High/Gakuen Taikutsu Otoko? Could have worked better as solely parody/comedy manga, but Nagai is Nagai and his insane, unique way of creating manga is one of his biggest appeals that allows him to stand apart from most other manga authors out there. All said and done, classic Nagai is classic Nagai, so if you’re avid fan of his works or a fan of manga in general, then I recommend you to check Cutie Honey out. You won’t regret it.

Review: Devilman Lady Volume 3

Another two random stories, yay! That said, they are good, but like usual, they feature unnecessary sexual events. First up is a story about a boy who was bullied and turns into a devilbeast. Second is about some deaths connected to Fudo's training club from when she did sports, where she meets her old rival, who also turns out to be a devilbeast. Let's get started.

Chapter 5 - The Mouth of Truth
As I mentioned above, this chapter is about a boy who is being bullied and turns into a devilbeast. Though, the actual transformation happened before the beginning of the story, FYI. Anyhow, it begins at an arcade. A young boy runs out of money and leaves. However, a starfish shaped monster jumps down from above and kills him. Then, Fudo and Asuka are informed so they start to investigate. She attends school as usual, though not before taking a shower where her younger brother peeps on her. Because incest, it's fucking hilarious. Oh yeah, and fuck you, Japan. That said, nothing better happen between Fudo and her brother. Remember, her demon genes elevate her sexual aspects, and her brother lives in the same apartment. So it's just a matter of time before she tries to have sex with him (he probably wouldn't even mind. Japanese remember). I'm just saying. Anyhow, she enters and school building, but she is being watched by two fucking creeps who say she's hot and that she must be loaded with cash that they will try to take. Hurk hurk hurk. Because all teenagers are rapist pigs, though maybe in hentai and everyday Japan. Jab jab jab. Anyhow, a boy walks by and the rapist looking bully drops his knife and asks him to pick it up. He does so, but the bully acts like he's trying to threaten him, so the other bully tells him that some money would calm him down. Seriously, they really don't have to go through such an elaborate plan. They could just shake up upside down like a normal person.

It then cuts to Fudo teaching and the boy enters the room with a few bruises on his face. Naturally, Fudo asks him what happened, but he says that he fell and the stupid bitch believes him. I mean, what kind of teacher are you if you can't even tell that a student of yours is being bullied? Wait, every fucking teacher! Ahem. Another teacher tells her that he is being bullied, to which she replies "what". What? That's all you've got to say? I mean, bullying is pretty common so why is she so naive? Or maybe that's how Nagai likes him women. You know, since many stories often reflect the writer's own feelings. Oh, while I'm on the subject, an anon of 4chan said that Nagai was going through impotence while writing Lady. So, from that, I concur that Nagai wrote in a lot of violence and rape against women because he couldn't get it up. Woah, says a lot about the writer himself, doesn't it? Blaming women because his tiny, Japanese dick wouldn't become erect. Wow. Nagai, what a man.

Anyhow, it skips to what is presumably later in the day to where the kid is getting fleeced again. However, Fudo confronts the bullies, or scum if you will. They say he's only paying back some money he borrowed, but Fudo is not amused so she asks if it is true, to which the bullied boy Mita replies, "yes". Fudo simply says, "okay", and that they just shouldn't be passing large amounts of cash in school. However, the lead bully tells Fudo that he wouldn't mind lending her some cash, and that he lives in an apartment alone. Yeah, realism. Students making advances on their teachers like a rapist. Only in hentai, and Japan. What, did a retard write this or something? Oh wait, he's Japanese! Ah ha ha ha ha!! Ahem. Yeah, because this scene was probably just Nagai fantasising (self inserting) about that guy banging her, with his tiny, Japanese dick. No wonder why all their women are being taken by Americans.

Now, I was really pissed at this part because Fudo can't be that stupid and weak willed. I mean, if she can't stand up to bullies when they are fleecing a student, and not decline their "advances", then she should call it quits. Leave. She's already a terrible MC, and her only worth is shameless use of tits and ass, and getting raped every now and then. Yeah, that last one is kinda frequent. Japanese pigs. Kill them, kill them all! Erm, where did that come from? Never mind. Anyhow, those ugly fucks just walk away, leaving Fudo speechless. Yeah, she must really want his cock. I bet ya that's what's going on here. No seriously, what kind of person says nothing after someone half their age more or less said they want to fuck them? A Japanese woman. Though, I'm sure anyone else from a "developed country" would slap them in the face or at least say something. Gah, Japan is so annoying.

Anyhow, Fudo and Asuka check out the arcade that the kid who died at the beginning frequently used. They walk around, find some info, and find out that he mooched money off of Mita. However, Mita is also there, and they ask him if he indeed does he the dead kid, but he denies. Hmm, something is amiss! Because the manager told Fudo that he did. Oh, scary. They then head to the scene of the crime, and Asuka gets a vision of what the creature looks like and oh sweet fucking Jesus!! Damn you, Nagai. Don't scare me like that. They then fourth discuss at a random cafe. They always do this, and it looks so fashionable, too. However, the two creepers from school are watching from a distance, right before they leave. The creepers continue their talk outside, chatting about how "sassy" both Fudo and Asuka are. So, the thin creeper asks to the other, "do you want to do it?"."What", he replies. "Rape", the thin creeper says. Yeah, because that's just a natural reaction, and he says it so naturally, too. Well, he is Japanese. They are a people obsessed with rape, you know. Because, "tell me how big it is". Also, they sort of imply that they've raped before with the whole, "but she's a teacher", "we'd get expelled". Real smooth, Nagai. This part of the story was really necessary, or are you just trying to appeal to those readers who wanted to fuck their teachers? Yeah, because they're totally fine with anyone else, but a teacher? Damn, that's just like wrong.

But the chubby prick chickens out and walks home. He reaches the door of his home and a giant mouth swoops down and chomps his fucking head off, spewing blood everywhere. Now, that was fucking awesome! I mean it, just see for yourself. Eww, nasty! The police soon arrive, but it appears that the paparazzi got there first. Heh heh, what a scoop! This causes some problems for the HA since the world is not yet ready to become aware of the devilbeasts. The following day, Fudo inquires about the main creeper to his teacher and tells him that he is bullying a student of hers. So he gets all riled up and says he'll do something about it. Yeah, I'm sure just talking to bullies and giving them a lecture will turn them around, right? It's not like you just punch them in the face until they die. Oh wait, you do! Oops. Where did that come from? Anyway, Fudo then passes by Mita (the boy being bullied) in the corridor, who is now talking to a girl. However, they part and head off, but the creeper rears his ugly head and inquires about this girl he knows. And I'm not liking where this one is going judging from his previous intention with Fudo. He asks if she's his girlfriend, but Mita says no, and the creeper tells him good since he is in "love" (rape) with her, and that he should "introduce" him to her. "Don't complain, it's not rape. I'm just spreading the love". Yeah, because Japanese thinks sex = love because it's the ultimate form of affection. So I'm guessing I Spit on Your Grave is the greatest love story ever told, then? Though, if you actually think Japan is right, then I'm afraid to say that you're an idiot. I went off topic again, didn't I? Asuka contacts Fudo and tells her that the police and paparazzi are in their way, since they are heading to the school because the creeper who died was from there. So she starts to search around to school, and Asuka arrives not long after.

It then cuts to an abandoned room (realism) somewhere in the school, and the creeper now suddenly has more creepers (3 to be precise) all holding that girl Mita was talking to before down, attempting to gang rape her. Realism. Yeah, because it's not like somebody's gonna hear the ruckus they're making or anything. Oh fucking wait! Stop fantasising, Nagai! This entire situation is unrealistic as fuck! An empty room, and nobody can even hear them!? What, is it fucking soundproof!? Is this hentai!? Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!! Jesus Fucking Christ! I feel like I need to hit someone!! Come here, Nagai! Burning!!! *Various punch and eye gorging sound effects* 

"It's the real thing". Did he expect something else?

Ah, all better. Ahem. Oh, too lewd for me, Nagai. What the fuck is wrong with you!? Are you that obsessed with rape you have to have at least one (even if only an attempt) in nearly every story? Gah, this is so fucking annoying! It's the main feature of many of the stories for crying out loud. So it's as if he expects the readers to tune in next time to see who else is gonna get raped. Yeah, way to build a fanbase for your oh so serious, adult story, Nagai. You Japanese retard. Hmph. Anyway, the creepers strip the girl down, and comment on her breast. "They're so bouncy"................ come again? Ah! Doesn't even matter! Moving on. They have her on a table and are stripping her down, and the lead creeper tells Mita that he can have a go, too, as a return gift, but has to go last. Eww. Sloppy seconds. The girls cries Mita's name but he doesn't respond, and keeps his back turned. It then stays on panels of her screaming and calling his name for a while before cutting back to the lead creeper, where he then complains about why is she begging for his help, when he was the one who brought her here. Yeah, what the fuck is wrong with you? Spineless fuck. Some "boyfriend", or whatever goes for one in Japan. Mita keeps his back turned until the lead creeper tells him that she's now totally naked, and drops her panties on his head. He then says that he likes to help people sometimes, so hee considering to let Mita go first. The other creepers says he ain't got it in him, and proceed to start a gropefest, but Mita charges past them without a word. They all think he's up for it, but he then says some mumbo jumbo and transforms into our monster of the week.

So Mita was the monster all along? Duh duh duh!!! What a shocker. Mita jumps around and starts to chomp the heads of the little shits off as they all try to run for the door, and Fudo and Asuka enter just as the last one (lead creeper) is killed, and only manage to dodge a head chomping themselves. The police enter the room, get a few of their heads chomped off, shoot at the creature a few times, and it runs out the window and up to the roof and escapes, never to be seen again. Though, right at the end, a chef puts food rubbish into a bin, and the bin then shakes. Oh, scary.

Anyhow, let's just go into why he was killing. Simple, they were bullying and mooching him for money. Wait, that's it? I've killed people for less. Oops. Banana slip! Now, the rapist creepers actually deserved it. They were scum who didn't deserve to live, so I've got no problem there. However, the kid at the start of the story "only" mooched him for money. It's not like he bullied him or was violent to him or anything. He just mooched money. "Hey, man. I'm all out of dough, lend me some, will ya?" It was probably something like that. Not, "Hey, man, give your fucking money or I'll rip your fucking eyes out!". See the difference? Now, what do I mean by all this may you ask? I mean, did the first kid even deserve death? The answer is no. No way in hell. Did you even think that one through, Nagai? Your character's reasoning for their actions is like swiss cheese, and you've been at it for over 40 years. You think you'd know how to write convincing and developed characters by now. Sheesh. "You mooched me for money, even though it's still my decision to give you it or not, but die anyway! Chomp!" Stupid Nagai. That said, Mita could have just lured the creepers into an empty room and killed them there. He didn't even have to give his "girlfriend", or just friend to them (because boys and girls can only be in a sexual relationship, it's not like they can "just" be friends), and thus that entire situation would never have happened. Oh, but then a pointless attempted rape would never have happened, nor would we have saw her tits. Priorities, I guess. Overall, like usual, this was actually a pretty good chapter. It kept the reader interested at all times and was very well paced. But like previous stories, it could have been done without the rape stuff. I mean seriously, stop thinking with your dick, Nagai.

Chapter 6 - The Rival
As usual, I've got a lot to say. It's mostly because Nagai likes to think with his dick, but I'll keep this one short. Anyhow, this story is about Fudo meeting her old sports rival again, who turns out to be a devilbeast. Shock! It starts off in the sewers where two workers (who also appear in a future story, FYI) spot multiple bodies in the water. So naturally, Asuka and Fudo are informed so they get to work right away. They find out their identities and also notice that they are all wearing torn swimsuits (because I need my dead bodies to show some skin and nipple god damn it) and are from the old sports club that Fudo use to use when she was a swimmer. She goes there, meets and greets, bla bla bla, and eventually finds herself in a battle against her old rival. It's a nice fight, and the story of this chapter is overall good, but there's just one thing that I think could have been changed. During this chapter, her rival flashes back to her childhood and she explains and we see why she has become the woman she is today. In short, she was raped by her step dad (but it's okay since they're not blood related, right) when she was 13 (I think) and that's why she now has a muscled body.

Also, it's really stupid because he goes through some elaborate plan to rape her by making her think the swimsuit is from her mother, so she would undress and he would then come charging into the room. What, did he just want the element of surprise or something? These character back stories are just so realistic. Stupid Nagai. Stop writing shit into what could be great story's. Oh wait, he's Japanese. Rape is like breathing to them. Anyway, she was also groped since age 6 by her stepdad while her mother watched and did nothing, and he also tried to rape her in the shower when she was around that age, too. Because that's just how fucked up this world this!! But she kills her stepfather in a shark like attack with her powers sometime after he started to regularly rape her. Yeah, because just having rapists get what is coming to them justifies placing rape in stories. Idiots. We all know it's there for sick otaku fucks like Nagai to jerk off to. Anyway, it was a good story, featured some nice character development for Fudo, bla bla bla, but could have done without that sort of back story.

Review: Devilman Lady Volume 2

It seems an anon of 4chan noticed my previous post, and he was kinda pissed. That said, I actually didn't comment on Lady's design or the themes last time, so I'll do that in this post. Now, I actually like Lady's design. Its got the right amount of hair in the right amount of places, though the crotch hair is kinda odd since it looks like she's just running around nude (which she is), unlike actual Devilman where his entire lower half is hair. However, Lady would probably be a turn off and look totally freaky if she had as much hair as Devilman, with her entire lower half covered. Eww. Just the thought makes me tingle. Anyhow, the theme. Lady from what I've seen so far is about the natural lust and desire that people have for power and sex (more so the former), and the things that they will do to attain either, which is the exact reason why people turn into devil beasts. Let me explain, in Lady, there is a certain gene inside us humans which has existed since the dawn of time. It is a gene that causes us to adapt to our current situation and environment and evolve accordingly to deal with it. Meaning, that those who desire power in whatever form that may be, will evolve (transform) to gain said power. However, this doesn't just happen to anyone but it is to more and more people year on year.

But here are where things get complicated. Humans themselves have a natural drive to want more, more money, more possessions, more things. They're never satisfied with what they have and always hunger, which in turn means that it is enviable that people will turn into devil beasts until their number outmatches regular people. That is brought up, which is why it's important that Fudo remains a devilman and they (the HA) find a permanent solution since the BB enzyme is only a temporary plan, I think. That said, there's something else that I'd also like to bring up. I mentioned last time that the monster rape was not necessary, but what I didn't mention is that it kinda is since it serves to further emphasise the savagery of the devil beasts, like an anon of 4chan said when I mentioned the rape in the thread on /m/. Though, anon-kun also mentioned that Nagai was probably jerking off while drawing it, so there's that to consider as well. Furthermore, it is interesting to note that only those who desire power and act on it (murderers, rapists and the like) turn into devil beasts. Which got me thinking that the devil beasts themselves could be an analogy to real world criminals, as they are people who commit acts that would be considered inhumane, hence why they transform into something that isn't human as that is what separates us from them. So if you look at Devilman Lady from that perspective, it can be seen in a whole new light. It's worth a thought.

Chapter 3 - High School Teacher
I've got quite a bit to say about this one so grab yourself some popcorn or something. This chapter is about a rapist pig of a teacher who is prostituting his students to old men for money. It starts out with a young girl at school approaching a teacher after helping her study, but he transforms, grabs her and it cuts. Then, it cuts to who I think is the same girl but presumably some time later at a coffee shop with a different appearance (I'm confused), who is called over to some ugly bugger and then it cuts to them fucking. He likes it weird so he tells her to try to resist and run (a fetish of his, I presume) which she does, but he grabs her and continues. After he is done, he comments that she wasn't half bad, says he will ask for her next time and leaves.

It then cuts to Fudo coming back to school for the first time since those students died on her field trip. She meets and greets, but that creepy, perverted, old teacher who I forgot to mention in the first volume acts a creep again, though another teacher comically pushes him aside and talks to Fudo. They walk out of the staff room and into the corridor, where they bump into another teacher called Okawa, who expresses his condolences over what happened at the lodge Then, that girl from the coffee shop appears and needs to talk to the teacher, so they walk off together. Guess who the bad guy is? Fudo says that he is nice, though the other teacher tends to disagree and comments that he is "cunning like a fox" (you mean sly like a fox? Stupid scanlators), and that she shouldn't trust him. Fudo disagrees and laughs it off like the naive idiot she is, though the other teacher calls her naive in return. See, I'm not the only one who thinks she's naive. Stupid Fudo, can't she see people only play nice to get what they want. Then, it cuts away for a moment to the teacher and student. She says she wants to stop, but he insists she shouldn't, because she is popular with the "clients" and that it would put him in a difficult situation. But she still wants to stop, yet Okawa says he loves her and it cuts. Oh, scary.

Now, I'm very curious about this "operation" he's got going because it doesn't exactly show us that he has more girls in his "service" other than the one we see, though I guess you could say it's implied. Stop dropping the ball, Nagai. You could have had a different girl come to him and ask to stop, because at least then we could guess the scale of his terror. Anyhow, it cuts away to Fudo teaching a class for a moment, then back to the rapist and girl who are now having sex, or forced sex more like it for a page. Yeah, because love = sex. Japan. Then, back to Fudo at the end of the school day, at the Tennis Club. However, Okawa is watching her from a window in the school. Shock! Then, Fudo hits the showers after a sweaty day, only to be confronted by Asuka, who teleports in, gives her a BB gun (Beast Buster. It turns them back into human), and explains that there is a devilbeast in the school and he is aiming for her. Shock! Who could it be! Then, Asuka vanishes. Thanks a lot, bitch.

However, Fudo doesn't want to transform since she doesn't want to become more like a beast, so she's runs into the showers and lays in wait with her BB gun. Then, the rapist approaches, taking off his clothes while walking towards the changing rooms. He enters and sniffs her underwear. Then, he enters the showers themselves and begins opening each stall one by one. However, Fudo springs out and pumps a few BB bullets into him. The beast stumbles but gets a good hit on Fudo, who drops her towel, causing the beast to become fully erect within an instant. He lifts her up and almost mounts her ass on his dick, but the BB bullets take effect and he begins to untransform so she is saved from being raped a second time. Then, he runs out of the room but Fudo doesn't follow. Asuka appears and tells her to finish him off, but she refuses, citing "he is still human". Again, very stupid and naive of her. Asuka tells her that he will simply retransform and come back a second time, and that if she doesn't take him out, he'll continue to "abuse" other teachers in the showers. Wait, what!? He's been raping teachers in the showers (who even uses school showers... eww) but nobody has said or done anything about it?

How Japanese. Jokes aside, I'm sure in any other country (in the civilized world) that people would come forward and get the rapist pig thrown in jail, but this is Japan we're talking about. A country that shuns aside rape and tries to hide the fact that it happens in their country. So much that there is a media blackout (unless it was an American) anytime that it happens, and the fact that those who get raped in Japan try it forget it ever happened in the first place, because their lives would be ruined if they had to face reality and actually report the darn crime. That, and like many other backwards countries around the world, if someone is a victim of rape, they think that nobody will want them (marriage, long term things) because they have been defiled and thus aren't "pure" (virgin) so they pretend it didn't happen and don't report. Hence the whole protect our pure "flowers" thing Japan has, because you are seen as if you don't exist if you have been "taken", so people pretend the whole ordeal never took place. That said, Japan is socially and culturally backwards in every aspect.

Now, since I got my little rant out of the way, let's continue. As Asuka said, Okawa charges back into the room transformed. Thus, a fight ensues! They battle in what is a nicely done scene, with it being well drawn and paced. You can tell what is going gone, and the panels flow real well. And that's what I like about Lady. The story flows from panel to panel like an actual anime episode, which is unlike most manga that I have read. Good job on that, Nagai. You deserve a pat on the back, and a punch in the face. I'll get to why in a minute. They battle for while but Fudo refuses to transform which causes the both of them to become injured. Okawa advances toward Asuka and begins to rape her... because devilbeasts. Though, since they were fighting and getting knocked about the place, she is not fully conscious but laying on the ground with her eyes closed when the monster sits on top of her, ready to rape. She then opens her eyes and begins to scream as he starts to rape her. Very horrific. Then, Fudo comes to her senses after seeing that Asuka is getting raped and begins to transform while masterbating... I hope she's not turned on (devilbeast genes, people) by what she sees. Eww. Anyhow, Asuka is still getting raped while Fudo is transforming. However, Fudo quickly becomes Lady and begins to fight Okawa. They battle and jump around the place. But Asuka tried to help and picks up her gun. Though, due to the violent, very forceful rape she underwent, she finds it hard to stand.

Now, I guess you could say "realism" but I felt very uncomfortable reading this part. Though, you could say that is its intention. Remember, to emphasise the brutality and savagery of the devilbeasts. But this is Japan we're talking about. A country which I'll stop myself from going on another tangent. Ha! Expected one, didn't you? Anyhow, Asuka manages to stand and gets a few shots into the monster, so he untransforms and runs off. However, he doesn't get too far as that student he was whoring out stabs him with a knife. Thus, the chapter comes to a close with a shot of him lying on the ground covered in blood.

Overall, this was a very good chapter. It was well written, well paced and well drawn in terms of Nagai’s artstyle since there’s more or less no quality (look up the term) when it comes to him, just his artstyle. Though, I am always pessimistic every time rape or something very sexual is involved since a lot of writer insert it in an attempt to create an "adult" story. That said, it's always male devilbeasts committing the rape on women, even though there are female devilbeasts but they are never shown raping, or so far I've read that is. Then again, they'd probably just put it girl on girl action because dude on dude is like gay. And yes, I know how that sounds. Anyhow, the chapter was great. Go read it.

Chapter 4 - Wings of Darkness
Now, I don't really have much to say about this chapter other than the few things that I didn't like and some info. The start off, here's a brief summary. It's about an idol, strange bird-like attacks in the city, and the aftermath of the previous chapter at the start of the chapter. There, Asuka tells Fudo that Okawa was shot to pieces like cheese by the HA soldiers. She laughs which gets Fudo real annoyed, since he was human. Yeah, I think you've seen enough so far to judge if he was "human" or not, Fudo. Stop being naive! Also, since Fudo was upset over Asuka laughing, Asuka doesn't hesitate to rub in her face that because she hesitated in her fight with Okawa, she was raped. Yeah, that one's on you, Fudo. Stupid bitch. Anyhow, bird-like attacks happened in the city, so our heroes try to track it down using Asuka's telepathic abilities. Oh, by the way, she can teleport and home in on nearby devilbeasts. Then, they find it attacking a lady who has half her clothes ripped off instead of actually being eaten or killed. Nagai being a pervert again, I presume. They empty a few BB shots into it and the creature flies off. Also, the idol reminiscences about her mother while the fat fuck eats at a table like the pig she is. She remembers that she use to be beautiful before her "American" father left her for another woman. Fuck you, Japan. Don't try to put Americans in a bad light just because you lost WW2. Grow up! Ahem.

Our heroes track it to an apartment, specifically the idols apartment. Shock! They head up to the room and enter to confront the beast who is now untransformed due to the BB bullets. However, the idol also transforms! Shock! Then, a fight ensues! Lady battles outside in the air while Asuka inside. The latter fights the fat fuck (she transforms again) and most of her clothes get ripped in the process. Because realism. Stop that, Nagai. Pointless nudity won't gain you any recognition. Oh wait, this is Japan we're talking about. Asuka grabs a vase with her breasts drenched in blood (Nagai!) and smashes it off the pig's head, killing her. However, Fudo manages to get some BB into the idol and she eventually untransforms. Then, the chapter ends soon after that. Though, they mention that the idol will be okay and return to normal. Overall, it's a good chapter but it could have done without those few negative things that I mentioned. Other than that, it's good but nothing special.

Review: Devilman Lady Volume 1

Hmm, I'm kinda pissed at Devilman Lady. I mean, the story so far that I've read has been great (Vols 1-5) and all but there doesn't have to be so much goddamn rape and sexualization. I'll get to that soon, but first, let me give you a brief introduction. Now, Devilman Lady is a gender flipped version of the original Devilman with it's stories being in a serial monster of the week TV style nature (which I really like) as opposed to teh plot. Each chapter is a self contained story which I really appreciate, with it just being connected to the overall plot since it features devil beasts (or beast) and the like. That said, it's great at what it does, but the thing that seriously annoys me are "parts" of what shape the stories. Now, since the main character is a woman, a lot of writers tend to change the stories to women related topics, like rape for example. Yeah, because the only thing women face in life is the possibility of getting raped, or being forced into prostitution, right, Japan? Not gender biased roles, discrimination in the workplace, domestic violence (not sexual, Japan), social injustice, and much, much more. Sigh. Because a good bunch of the stories in Devilman Lady are the former, and I'll get into that as I go through each one individually.

Furthermore, it's not only the above that gets on my nerves, as there are also way too many pointless close ups and shots of characters breasts, butts, groin hair, and monster dicks foaming cum. Yeah, because that last one is really necessary. And the monsters foam streams of it just at the sight of women, before any sexual act to stimulus such a reaction occurs. Realism, people! Or, nudity in general. There's so much that Devilman Lady qualifies as a hentai with plot, which is kinda what it is. Though, not that any of the nudity is over excessively detailed or explicit, but there is still a bit too much. Furthermore, their is kinda a reason for that, as the devil beasts are a little different from the demons in Devilman. To simplify things, instead of craving just violence and destruction, they also have an insane sexual appetite that causes them to rape a lot, which is shown many times throughout Devilman Lady, though only male devil beasts. Where's my ugly ass female monsters raping men for their magical elixir or monster dudes raping other dudes, Nagai? Where's the realism? Oh wait, because ugly ass monsters with 5 meter dicks raping women is a Japanese fetish. Because the more disgusting (poop being one of them) the sexual act or the things involved (monsters or dogs for example), the more sexually appealing it is to the Japanese. And that's a fact. But I'm sure it's part of Devilman Lady's "depth", things like this usually are.

Granted though that the artwork is very nice which is a major bonus. I love Nagai's style. It's really great. However, he can't really draw breasts correctly, as they do look like giant basketballs for the most part. Also, Asuka (Ryo's counterpart for Devilman Lady) looks like a freaking transvestite. Though, there is a reason for that as I read on 4chan. Eww. Anyway, she should look more like an actual woman, like how Ryo was done as a man, in-where they reveal the change later where his looks change to a more feminine appearance. Anyhow, I just wanted to comment on the artwork and such, seeing how I'm mostly gonna be talking about the plot.


Chapter 1 - She awakens
Here we are introduced to the lovely and very attractive yet stupidly naive, Jun Fudo. A teacher working at a Japanese high school, who manages a few clubs, is a former Olympic athlete in swimming and has a younger brother who peeps (because Japan) on her... I fucking hate that trope. Because incest is just so fucking hot, right!!!!? Ahem. Now, she goes on a trip with her tennis club (both boys and girls) to a log cabin in the mountains, and that is where shit gets really messed up. They unpack and settle themselves in, but they're not alone, as a Judo team comprised of adult men from some famous school are next door. Then, later on in the day at night, the girls and Fudo (all the boys are tired and hit the sack early) gather around a fire outside and talk about their teacher and her past. But they are not alone, as the men from the judo team approach and ask would they like to have some fun. Though, the scanlators stupidly left a TL note for those under the age of 10 who don't understand that they mean sex. Stupid. If you can't even tell that, then what the hell are you reading this for? Anyhow, the judo men say that Fudo's "breasts are angry", which it then shows her clothes see through and her nipples are erect. Because she just wants to have sex with those random, burly, tank-like strangers. Japan, the country that thinks women want to get raped. Because if they are excited or enjoy it, the action is justified. Japan. Yeah, I know I just took that scene out of context, but this is Japan we're talking about. And seeing how Nagai's stories have changed since after he got married in the 80's, I am assuming that all of this shit is just him being a pervert. That, and he's Japanese. Therefore, my assumption is correct.

Anyhow, before anything happens, giant bats attack (because reasons) and the judo team go crazy at the scent of blood, but start to eat the bats. Things are not as they seem! Fudo and the girls escape into their cabin and they apply bandages to their wounds, and Fudo takes a shower and masterbates. Again, there is a reason. Goddamn stop that, Nagai! Then, a window is heard being smashed on the floor above. Fudo tells the girls to hide themselves in the nearby room as she goes to investigate, but not before she gropes herself on the way up the stairs. Wait, what!? Again, there is an explanation. Though, anyone reading this should already know and have read this manga. That said, she steps into the boys room, and sees a monster eating them. She turns and runs down the stairs, and witnesses something very horrific.

Now, before I go into this scene, I'll let you know that I flipped my fucking shit and if you are a normal person like me, you should, too. If you're not and really messed up, you probably jacked off like some little Japanese shit. Hey, you are what you are. Don't blame me for pointing it out. That said, let's continue. She runs down the stairs and sees all the girls spread out on the floor, getting brutally raped by monsters. She tries to attack a monster with a knife (realistic reaction) but it grabs Fudo, and proceeds to rape her, too. She screams, naturally, but something begins to change within her. Her body then goes under a transformation (while being raped) and she becomes Devilman Lady. Now, I'll have to bring you out of this little summary and talk about the scene in question. Seriously? Instead of the typical transform by anger, you changed it to rape, Nagai!? Way to beat the trope, you sick fuck. I mean, this is just absurd. Let's apply this to real life, shall we? Because if you get raped in real life, don't worry ladies, you'll transform and save yourself. Fuck you, Japan. Again, I know I'm taking things out of context but this does not need to be in the story. And this is Japan we're talking about! I think we know the real intention behind all this bullshit... fetish and Nagai being a perv!!

Anyway, she transforms and first chops off the monsters dick (classy, enter reanimator joke) and then kills the rest. Then, mysterious soldiers run into the building and a also mysterious woman explains a few things. One being that she is Devilman Lady. End! A good start, but I don't think "that" was really necessary.


Chapter 2 - Door of Mistery
Now, this chapter was pretty nice. It covers the aftermath of the ordeal, and all that jazz. Fudo's father also arrives and explains a great deal about the devil beasts, and why she transformed, since him and her mother experimented on her when she was a child, and a bunch of other stuff. It's very nicely paced and flows really well. Good job, Nagai. I have no problems with this chapter... other than a few things. The schoolgirls that were raped were all saved (not my complaint), but one had their neck broken, presumably by one of the monsters. I'm just gonna guess during... yeah... goddamn you, Japan. Anyway, the HA (Human Alliance) covered up the entire event and faked the media that it was a fire that claimed the lives of those who perished, memory wiped the few survivors (except Fudo). However, I doubt they can wipe away the fact that the girls who were raped (including Fudo) are most presumably pregnant due to what happened (also since the devil beasts have been doing that) and their assholes and such (for lack of a better term, what, do you want me to use anus) were stretched by the monsters monstrous 5 meter... yeah... I think you know where I'm going. Anyway, what I mean is that the above isn't something that can simply be forgotten, yet it is neither mentioned or brought up. What went wrong there, Nagai? Where you too busy jerking off? That said, my only other complaint is mid-way through, it teases the rape of Fudo in the form on another teacher who works at the same school proclaiming that he will "rape and eat her".
